Almost 300 charities back Gift Aid campaign

The Gift Aid Emergency Relief campaign is led by a coalition of Charities Aid Foundation, Chartered Institute of Fundraising, Charity Finance Group, Charity Tax Group and National Council for Voluntary Organisations with the support of charity membership bodies Small Charities Coalition, Charity Retail Association and Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations.

Almost 300 charities have added their support to the campaign for a two year Gift Aid Emergency Relief package. This would see Gift Aid be raised from 20% to 25% and the Small Donation scheme that makes claiming gift aid easier for small charities extended to many more.

The change would mean that a £100 donation from a UK taxpayer would increase to £133.33 for the charity once Gift Aid had been claimed and could result in an additional £450m to help the sector survive the coronavirus funding crisis and recover.
